Specialising in Anxiety and Depression
Hypnotherapy is a technique that uses hypnosis to allow the client to take control of their own thoughts and feelings, making the therapeutic process easier, quicker and more powerful.
During this deeply relaxed state of mind, one may be able to recall experiences and feelings that have been forgotten, if that is what is required, or simply to think more rationally about a behaviour or situation that is causing a problem. A balanced perception of the problem and where it came from is the key to correcting the problem, and the negative emotions associated with it.
Hypnoanalysis is more than just positive thinking or suggestion therapy, and is useful to resolve more deep rooted emotional problems like childhood abuse, compulsive or obsessive disorders, eating disorders, depression or self-harm.
There is always a cause and through Hypnoanalysis, the cause or causes of the distress are identified and reduced or eliminated. Once the cause is addressed, many, if not all of the symptoms associated with the problem disappear or diminish. Hypnoanalysis seeks to balance the emotional component of the cause, rather than manage the symptom.
Hypnotherapy, Hypnoanalysis, and Kinetic Shift are Interactive Therapies
Hypnosis is likened to a daydreaming or a trance state, like that of meditation. It is a relaxed yet focused state of mind in which one experiences acute awareness. It is completely safe and natural, a state which we naturally drift in and out of several times during the day. The client remains fully in control of their thoughts and actions, and is able to recall everything that happens.
Is a modern technique developed by Karl Smith, a military and Police veteran, and is used extensively with those institutions to alleviate PTSd. The technique is powerful and dynamic, facilitating rapid and lasting change for clients suffering from anxiety, phobias, panic, and trauma. It can be used as a stand alone therapy, or within a package of techniques to facilitate lasting benefit to the client. Not only is Lorna a qualified practitioner of this technique, but she is also a trainer for the UK Hypnosis Academy, teaching Kinetic Shift to other therapists.
Thought Therapy® is Lorna’s bespoke blend of therapies. Using Techniques from several disciplines, Lorna applies whichever method is most appropriate to achieve the desired result for the client.
When will I notice the benefit?
Hypnotherapy is a rapid form of therapy, with many problems being solved in only one session. With Kinetic Shift added to Lorna’s tool kit, therapy has become a much reduced time investment.
Smoking remains a single extended session, and most worries listed below can be dealt with in just one session.
- Smoking and other Habits
- Fears and Phobias
- Exam Nerves
- Stage Fright
- Public Speaking
- Pain Management
Some other problems, possibly including some of the above may take a few more sessions, maybe between two and three:
- Sleep Disorders
- Anxiety and Panic Attacks
- Low Self-Esteem
More time will need to be taken when dealing with deeper emotional issues, or even someone wanting to gain a deeper insight into themselves. For this, analytical work needs to be undertaken and may take between four and six sessions:
- Eating Disorders
- Victims of Sexual Abuse
It is not possible to say a particular problem will be overcome in a precise number of sessions, but the above is intended as a guide. It is not possible, either to list all of the problems that can be treated by this form of therapy: Physical, emotional, behavioural and medical.
